| Description: | Mina Mina is the dreaming site, approx. 300 kms west of Yuendumu, for the Napanangka and Napangardi women and the Japanangka and Japangardi men. This painting is associated with Napanangka and Napangardi women, hunting, dancing and singing, it also depicts the desert landscape with sand hills, rock holes and the relationship of the wind, sun and other natural elements.
Judy Napangardi Watson is a senior female painter from the Yuendumu community in the Northern Territory. Judy is well known for the distinctive style of painting that she developed alongside her sister Maggie Watson. The combination of vivid colour, highly detailed works and high-level composition have led to widespread appreciation in the art world. Her paintings often describe the Mina Mina country to the west of Yuendumu. |
