A leading painter of the Frog Hollow group of painters (including Rover Thomas and Queenie McKenzie) he was best known for silhouetted landscapes seens in side section, based on land forms like the Bungle Bungles ranges adjacent to his desert home. Regarded as one of the most senior Kimberley group of ochre painters, his work gained national and international recognition through major surveys and individual shows.
