| Description: | The linear and dot pattern throughout this painting represents Awelye, women’s ceremonial body paint design. The women paint their bodies and sing songs for ceremonies throughout the year. Designs are painted onto the chest, breast, shoulders and upper arms with ground ochre's and applied to the body.
Abie Loy was born at Utopia Station approximately 270 kilometres north-east of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. Abie is married to Terry Rumble, and is the granddaughter of Kathleen Petyarre. Abie Loy has been painting since the early nineties under the guidance of her Grandmother, she paints her Grandfathers Dreaming's such as the Bush Hen Dreaming and also paints Women's Body Paint and Bush Leave Designs. Abie’s works are held in major collections all over the world and she has been exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally. |
